I haven't been on this account in a while, but I wrote a new fic last month, while I was excited for the then upcoming release of The Scarlet Bullet and a bit annoyed at the ongoing pandemic.

The White Dove cold medicine is needed to complete the antidote.
Pros: The temporary antidotes already need the user to have a cold to work anyways, Miyano created medicine gets to fix what they inadvertently started.
Cons: The medicine is outdated and I'm pretty sure that's not how pharmaceutical stuff works. (Then again, I don't know how it works anyways, so w/e)

Interesting how one of the most consistent ways of getting Conan to open up is to threaten to involve Ran. Heiji managed to get the truth by threatening to tell Ran that Conan was Shinichi. Eisuke got confirmation about Conan’s identity by saying he wanted to take Ran to America/that he had a crush on Ran.

Can’t help but feel that this will bite Conan extra hard later if the Org tries going after the Mouris.

Sadly, Eisuke doesn't get the appreciation he deserves. Time to change that.

-Both have dead/pretending to be dead role model family members, who they took massive amounts of inspiration from. (Toichi and Shuuichi)(Gosho, I’m begging for Toichi to stay dead in spite of the hinting just let him be dead)

-Both also have dead dads (Toichi again and Tsutomu)(Just let these two stay dead, their families don’t need the shock of them turning out to be alive the whole time)

-They both have issues with their local immortality seeking crime organizations due to those organizations targeting at least one family member each.

-But they’re also foils to each other in that they took different approaches and are working on opposite sides of the law.

-Kaito’s family is very thievery oriented. Kaito took up the Kaitou KID mantle to confront the new KID, and then draw out his father’s killers, and then seek out and destroy Pandora.

-Masumi’s family on the other hand is more law enforcement oriented. Masumi picked up detective work at a young age, and is using it to try and help her mother out.

-Actually, another foil point there. Kaito’s mother Chikage spends a lot of time traveling, leaving Kaito alone with just family friend Konosuke Jii and the Nakamori’s for support, only rarely coming home. Masumi still has her second brother Shuukichi and her mother Mary around to interact with, giving her more family interaction.

-Headcanon time: I feel like they’re both suppressing a lot of issues. Kaito going behind Aoko’s back as the thief she hates, dealing with a criminal organization that wants him dead, out running police at heists. Masumi having to keep quiet about all that happened to her family and the truth surrounding this, what happened to her mother, likely knowing that her detective work and family ties are possibly painting a huge target on her back if she keeps going.

-Her father died/disappeared before she was born.
-Had little direct interaction with eldest brother, due to his job and efforts to track down what happened to said father. (At least Shuuichi sent the JKD tapes to Masumi.)
-Is aware of Kohji Haneda and his death, most likely knows about Kohji’s connection to Shuukichi.
-Her mother was poisoned in what was most likely a murder attempt, and is now stuck in the form of a middle school child.
-Believes her eldest brother is dead.
-Is very much caught up in helping her mother stay hidden, has to lie about various things to do this.
-All this is because of the Black Organization.
-Is likely in danger herself, due to her various family ties and the fact that she is an active high school detective.
-Actually, no one in her family deserves this.
-What did the Akai family do to deserve this.

Random thought of the day: What if Momiji is a foil to Sera? In the latest file, it’s implied Momiji has some capability as a detective, if Iori’s words about her deductive capabilities being regular are to be trusted. The foilishness comes in when you start comparing the two. Momiji seems to be more obviously feminine in contrast to Sera’s more androgynous appearance, and while Momiji seems content watching Heiji through news reports and sending her butler after him, Sera tends to just directly approach Shinichi/Conan to talk to him.
On another note, it feels like Gosho’s trying to use both to make love triangles. Momiji directly states that Heiji is her future partner due to him apparently proposing to her when they were younger, while it’s very heavily implied Sera has some form of feelings towards Shinichi due to their childhood meeting.

Okay, is the new guy Tsutomu Akai? On one hand, Tsutomu’s eye design and hair seem different from what I can tell, and he was supposed to look more like Shuukichi. This guy looks more like Shuuichi.
On the other hand, his appearance could have easily changed over the years since he disappeared, and disguise is very much a thing in this series.
Really, it’s too early to tell either way who this guy is. Maybe if I had access to the whole file I could say a bit more about this, maybe once this whole case wraps up there might be a bit more info to go off of, but for now it’s kind of early.
